Welcome to ISTAexposed.com, a clearinghouse of documents related to Indiana’s largest teachers’ union, the Indiana State Teachers Association.

This is a site for taxpayers to keep their finger on the pulse of the union and act as a watchdog of its activities.

For a number of years, ISTA has been stifling reform, protecting the status quo, and boasting of electing candidates who defeated increased accountability and performance measurements. 

One candidate, Rep. John Barnes (D-Indianapolis) was the recipient of a whopping $179,500 for his election! More recently, ISTA’s insurance arm, ISTA Trust, has come under intense scrutiny for millions in losses and questionable investments.  It’s even being investigated by the FBI. 

Prior to the FBI investigation, teachers, in a class action suit, accused the union of racketeering! On this site, we explore ISTA’s agenda, political giving, and tactics to get its way. 

This is a project of Education Action Group Foundation, a non-profit organization bringing attention to education reform and Organized Labor’s attempts to subvert it.
